1. Start your secondaries early. Even if you aren't verified yet, look at the threads on SDN and start because once you get hit you will get overwhelmed.


2. The best way to find typos in your essays is to have your computer read the essay back to you. There are lots of programs that do this (you can do it on Adobe acrobat reader). It really really works.

OMG. I just tested this out. This is the most awesome thing ever. I have such a hard time correcting grammar mistakes even when I read my essays out loud. Thank you!~
