I'm an IMG who is planning to take Step 2 within the next 4 - 6 months and I don't know how to approach it. So far all the adivice that I've seen posted all over this forums has been for AMGs and I'm not sure if it is the same for IMGs. I'd be grateful if anyone would give me some advice, tips, recommendations, resources etc - for an IMG. Thanks.

I recommend you get your hands on the kaplan Step 2 books (IM, Surgery, Pediatrics, Psych and OB/gyn). For questions, you should do USMLEWORLD(UW) questions. Do them twice if you have the time. Use a review book like "First Aid for Step 2 CK", "Boards and Wards", "Secrets" or "Crush" along with UW. Do the NBME assessment exams. There are 3 of them. Each on costs $45.

I completely agree with what superoxide said.
I personally prefer FA to other review books since it's got more depth and has more room where you can make notes from UW.
As for Kap notes, read them cover to cover ONLY IF you don't have the foundation. As for medicine, I think Step-up Med is superior to Kaplan.
When you're done with UW and still crave more questions then do Kaplan QBank. The questions are not as good as UW (I felt that their questions were more superficial and had more esoteric ones).
Revise the FA notes in your last 7-10 days.
I hear USMLERx for Step 2 CK is launching next week. Should be interesting to see how that measures up against UW.

I also am an IMG, but I plan on taking the exam in 2009.It's when I will be in my last year of studies, so I was wondering what you would recommend to study from during my rotations as well (Peds, OB/GYN, IM,Surg., Psych).Should I get other books (since I will have the whole year available), besides these already mentioned?I would appreciate the help!

H Loanna,
I'm also an IMG and I'll take Step2 CK in February 2008. Of course your rotation notes will help, but I would concentrate on the books mentioned and especially on the questions (wheather in the kaplan qbook or usmle-world or whatever else). You need to get familiar with the question types.
