Dear EM res!
I'm an IMG from Israel, after 1 year of Internal Medicine res in Israel, and half a year in Neurosurgery residency in Israel, i've decided EM is the field for me. However, EM in Israel is not as developed as in the states and i hope to match for next year (March 2014).
However, i need your advice.
I have good USMLE's scores (265, 259), 3 years research background (no publications sadly). As an IMG, I'll get a lot of LORs from my residencies in Israel. I have background in Israel's red cross for many years, and army reserve service as a doctor.
However, i've tried scheduling observerships all over the states without any luck. every EM says they don't offer those for non-students. So i don't have any american rotations done or LORs.
What are my chances to get accepted?
Any advices what else should i do before applying for interviews?
Any ways to get observerships somewhere?
anything would be much appreciated,
thanks in advance,
Amir
