Hello, I have been doing much research on MCAT prep courses, particularly Kaplan and TPR. I know my style of studying would work best with some direction and instruction while I do most of the studying on my own time. In my research of these courses, I have found that almost everyone agrees that they are a waste of money and do not offer much help besides some test taking strategies. I would like to know if there is anyone who has taken either of these courses and felt they were useful.
I also was considering using a private tutor since that may be more personalized and offer instruction where I need it the most. Does anyone know where would be the best place to find a private MCAT tutor (I'm from the Chicago area)? Or if this is even a thing...
I also have been doing a lot of searching and reading reviews of MCAT prep books. I found some conflicting reviews on what each company's books are well suited for. I graduated undergraduate in May 2018 and have not taken a prereq in over 3 years so I need a lot of broad content review and easy to understand subject explanations. I will, of course, be purchasing the AAMC package but want to know what books would be best for the review that I need. I am leaning towards Examkrackers because I heard they explain everything clearly and present the need to know stuff only, but I heard that purchasing Kaplans package is helpful because of the wealth of online resources it offers although the content can be too detailed.
Thank you for any help and advice you can offer!
