Hi!

I just completed my first interview today with Western Michigan University's OTD program. They have another interview on March 13th so we won't find out until after those candidates have interviewed.

I wondered if anyone had any advice and perspective to take to not worry during the waiting period? How long after all interviews have been conducted do people find out? Is it normal for a program to go into the waitlist if that happens? Also, WMU does not do rolling admissions, so was it a good sign to be selected for an earlier interview date but does it not matter?

Hi there - Congrats on getting and getting through the interview!

The waiting could be absolutely torturous. And how long really depends on the school. This past cycle, I interviewed with 2 out of the 5 programs I applied to and got into both. But for one, I waited only about 2-3 weeks post-interview and the other I waited 2-3 months post-interview, before finding out I was accepted.

I know this is easier said than done, but try to take it 1 day at a time - the more I thought about the long-term outcomes of their decisions, the more I stressed and worried daily (long-term outcomes = having to move, how would I afford the tuition, what if they don't take me, if they don't take me - why?)

Did you send your application in early? I noticed most if not all schools review applications on a first come, first serve basis. I think getting selected at all for an interview is a good sign, so I wouldn't focus much on where in the ranking yours came up.

Best of luck & hope you get a call/email soon (& hope this helps).

Thank you for this! I'm currently on the waitlist for my top choice and growing more nervous/anxious each day. Your advice truly helped and I will try to remain hopeful!
