I'm trying to figure out which QBank I should use. I went through UWorld x1 during 3rd yr. I started studying for Step II using UWorld after 3rd yr was over and I had gotten through it a second time, but I wasn't pleased with my practices scores so I pushed it back a few months. I took a yr off for an MPH so I figured I had time.

I picked it up again this past January and went through UWorld a 3rd time, but I STILL wasn't pleased with my practice scores (I had got a 240 on UWSA but my target is >250), so I pushed it back again.

Now I'm done with the MPH stuff and have picked up studying for the boards again, do you think there is any utility in me going through UWorldx4??? My gut is telling me no, so I'm thinking about switching to Kaplan. I heard its hard and esoteric though and not really representative of the actual exam so I'm a little worried.

I did a few sample Q's from Kaplan and I got killed (around 45%). They're pretty hard! I'm just worried b/c it seems like everyone is using UWorld???? What's up with Kaplan? If I use it alone this time through, will it get me to my target score of 250+???? I need a high Step 2, b/c my performance on Step 1 was a joke. I didn't fail or anything, I just didn't do well AT ALL.

I know that was long so here's the summary:

3rd yr--> UWorldx1
July after 3rd yr--> UWorldx2
Jan after 3rd yr-->UWorldx3

Should I go through it again? Or switch to Kaplan? Target score is 250+!

Thanks!

Interesting post. You scored a 240+ on practice exams and decided to push it off? Not sure why you did that.

I used Kaplan for STEP 1 and was not impressed. I think Uworld is the way to go, but consider adding the NMS Review for STEP 2 qbank also. Its a very inexpensive question book with a CD that has 1000 questions. Unlike Uworld, there are no tricks, just straightforward questions which makes it a nice adjunct to Uworld. You can purchase the book off amazon for just a few dollars. Not many people know about it, but it helped me do very well on STEP 2. Here's the link. Good luck

Agree with NMS. Again with Uworld the important thing is to beat the concepts into your brain. If after three times you aren't scoring in the 90s then clearly you are lacking in concepts and/or detail.

I would do NMS, read Secrets/Step Up, and probably go through uworld again since it will be a very quick run through, since you've done it 3x.

In general people are disparaging toward kaplan's qbank. May want to consider DIT as well if you really want the 250+
