i know for step1 the general consensus to giving advice to a med1 student was to stay away from review books and learn it well and thorough the first time around. then once 2nd yr is over then use the necessary review books / Qbanks.

does the same philosophy apply to med3-4?
if so, what material are you using for each rotation?

i dont want to make the same mistake as i did with step1 by having to "learn" everything in 6 weeks for the boards.

thanks.

I am planning to take Step 2 sometime this summer, and was hoping to take advantage during the testprep week to get a good deal. Which test bank is most recommended? UW or Kaplan?

I find UW much better than Kaplan.

Seems like the consensus is to read when you can during every rotation. Then, during your dedicated study time, use primarily UWorld and secondarily a review book like Crush Step 2, Secrets, or Step Up to Step 2.

People have different preferences for which books to use during rotations. Personally I've used a combination of Blueprints (for OB, Surgery, and Medicine), Recall (for surgery), Deja Review (for Peds and OB), Step-up to Med (for Family Med/Medicine), and Crush Step 2 (while working out all throughout the year). All are decent options just figure out which ones you like.
