Take it easy next Thursday with mild review of any formulas or anything you feel to review for a few hours.

Friday, do not study. It will only make you think you don't know enough, panic and that's going to have the opposite effect that you were planning. Instead, go the beach if you live by one or get a massage and relax...

Take a fanny pack (however it's spelled) and put unwrapped candy in it, leave it unzipped so that when your stomach starts growling or you are drifting off, you can slip something sweet in your mouth. I cut up 3 power bars and I was so full by the end of the test (powerbars end up sticking together again so it was a big blob but still easy to take pieces after being cut up previously).

If you don't need to use the restroom before the test or during breaks, USE THE RESTROOM anyway. Kinda like when the doctor says give me a urine sample and you say you don't have to pee and you end up overflowing the darn sample container

Do not use an elevator on the morning of the test. A week before ours, I was taking a practice test at UCLA and took an elevator the proper floor... the friggun thing got stuck for 15 minutes! Nervewrecking and can result in late arrival which would suck.

If you have anxiety, visit your test center sometime before the test and visit the rooms in the building you are assigned to. You'd be surprised at how much this reduces anxiety.

Take a white eraser, those magic rubs, because when I erased an answer with my pencil eraser it smeared the lead all over the scantron and it took me about 3 minutes trying to clean it up (unsuccessfully).

Eat a light lunch during your lunch break. You don't want to be sleepy during the BS section. Maybe a 6 inch subway sandwich or somethin.

Be confident, don't freak out... especially after the test. On every practice test, the sections I felt I did the worst on ended up being the best sections, and this happened on the real thing too.

Best of luck to you all and kick the living shiyat out of that test :luck:

thanks so much.

and just reading that gave me anxiety b/c my mind has learned how to not process things that i don't want to face..i've learned to put some very traumatic incidents out of my mind until i'm ready to deal with it.

i'm not yet ready to deal with the fact that the MCAT is one {gulp} week away; please don't make me face that yet...i need to at least get thru my final exam on Tuesday first.

That sounds like an excellent way to get reported for suspicious behavior during the test. All bags, including fanny packs, must be on the floor during the exam, and you can't eat or drink. Attempting to inconspicuously pull something from an open fanny pack, even if it's just food, might look like cheating to some folks and may be a disturbance to the person sitting next to you. Eat during the breaks only. That's what everyone else has to do; you should, too.

If you don't want to think about the MCAT, don't visit the MCAT forum. No one is making you face anything. You're doing this to yourself. Don't post about tips for this coming week or score predictions if you're unable to realize that the test is in a week. And stop projecting; your feelings are your responsibility.

I don't know what law enforcement office you took your test at but where I took it (USC), it did not matter whatsoever. They don't think you're cheating because you put your hand down and then in your mouth

Does that "future psychiatrist" help paranoia by any chance?

Where I took the test, there were rules about eating and drinking. Actually, no matter where you take the test, there are rules about eating and drinking as sanctioned by the AAMC. People have cheated using bottles, food wrappers, and the like, before. Rules exist for a reason, and it's not paranoia to follow them-- it is safety, considering the proctors can report you for pretty much anything they damn well please if it's against the rules. I don't know about you, but I don't want to risk it with the wrong proctor. Reaching into an open bag when you're not supposed to have a bag on you at all anyway looks awfully suspicious to a careful set of eyes. Whether anyone sane would really think you were cheating or not is irrelevant; all strange behavior can be reported to the AAMC and can go into a report that is sent to medical schools. So, if you want to break the rules by having an open bag and sneaking food when it is expressly against the rules, go right ahead!

I find it funny that Psycho is giggling about this, but spending hours at a time worried about bathroom breaks and nappytime 🙄

Nope! Having a great day, as usual. Although I dd have gum surgery today... hmm... anyway, I don't like when people use all their time to whine and complain, and when they do that, I call them out. Clearly, I'm not talking about you. G'day.

I asked a couple of questions; no more than the average person about the SAME situations...so STOP STALKING ME!!!

Thank you for your well wishes. I find it hard to NOT take your posts seriously because they're often written with such a serious tone and serious emoticons, which are a way of expressing tone on the internet. Also, you've said on more than one occasion how stressed you are. If stressed, I suggested staying away from this forum.

It's hard to avoid your posts because they're ubiquitous in this forum. I am not stalking you, but I do make a point to discuss contradictory or conflicting behaviors on your part because I find your fretting and worrying to be detrimental not only to your health and stress-level, but also to the general stress level of posters on this board.

I really hope this next week goes well for you. You've been doing great on the practice tests, so ease off on those and try to relax. Definitely keep up your studying on weak topics. You'll do great. :luck:

I am sure you got a 15 being that you can read people's minds, feeling and emotions on the Internet... no hard feelings, don't get defensive. Looks like that anesthesia really did a number on you buddy... Enjoy it 👍
By the way, what made you come onto this thread with such good intentions This thread is not a debate, it was meant to give some people some advice, Thank you for your contribution!

I don't intend to debate, but I do not think it is good advice to break the rules. And I got a 10, not that it's relevant to this discussion, but if I were in your position, I wouldn't chastise people with regards to their MCAT score. People in glass houses... 🙄

I was sort of thinking the same thing but then i get tired to telling people on the internet that they have no idea what i'm thinking and are generally wrong. It's really amazing when they actually argue with me that they know better what i'm thinking than i do. People need to realize a lot of what is posted here is said in jest or at least not totally serious.

Thanks for your advice and efforts on devising this thread.

Personalities play a big part of getting into medical school pal... you should look into that as well... but with a 10 on Verbal, I don't think you should be telling people how they feel, think and about their emotions from reading their posts online. In other words, don't flatter yourself "stinkycheese".

I don't know what my MCAT score has to do with this conversation. Nor did I ever say that I am a mind-reader. But if you insist on bringing MCAT scores into this, let me just say that someone with a 7 in verbal should not be belittling others' scores in any way. A 7 leaves a lot to be desired, buddy.

 can you point me to the belittling of your score? I said you rocked the MCAT. It's never ceases to amaze me how insecure some people are.

Anyway, it seems like your social life exists via this website, so go ahead and respond so you can have the last word. I won't sink to your level and talk about this when my intentions were to help people, not talk to you... and by the way, I never told others what they were thinking as you tried to do.... so go ahead and respond so you can have the last word since this is your social network "stinkycheese". :hardy: You rock maaaan!!!

i know this doesn't sound great..but i'm actually glad to see someone else not get along with stinkycheese b/c i was beginning to think it was my fault that she attacked me all the time

and you do realize stinkycheese is a girl...right?
