hey bill and gavin and any other upperclassmen, any advice for us upcoming second yrs. did it go by fast or slow? is it harder than first year? i'm on summer break now. start back late august. it feels like there's something i should be doing during this summer break, but instead i'm just being lazy. what did you guys do during your summer off? oh, and how many teeth do we REALLY need for operative. they make it sound like you need a ton. anywho, i'm out...... thanx guys for all your tips ... 😉

The best suggestion I can offer is to make your peace with second year as soon as you can. The sooner you come to terms with the increased time & precision it requires from most of your work, the better off you'll be. I tried to be cavalier about it for most of fall semester, and really paid for it toward the end of the semester. The good news is that while it's pretty tough at times, it goes by pretty quickly, and you'll be looking at the start of third year before you know it. Good luck!

And I guarantee you 3rd yr will fly by even faster than 2nd yr.

2nd yr was harder at my school. It seemed like we still had the same number of didactic classes with more preclinic labs thrown in. We started pharm which was notoriously difficult at my school (and most I would imagine). Prosth lab. 🙄 I'll just say some of the instructors were a bit silly... being able to tell the difference between 3 and 5 decrees . Anyway, it does go by fast. I did think it was more interesting being more clinically based. gl

wow, already on summer break and don't start back till late august, that sounds like the life.

We don't finish till may 18th and start back july 18th.

quick question for you guys...if you have a summer break at your schools, then do you not start seeing patients till fall semester? or are you already in clinics spring of sophomore year?

Wow, we finished classes May 6th and start summer courses May 16th...now that's what I call a break. Second year sucks more than first, heh? Sweet!
