I'm a high school senior trying to pursue a career as a Pharmacist. I'm thinking about going to a two-year junior college to get my pre-reqs and then applying for pharmacy school. Would going to a 4 year university for my pre-reqs be a better choice than a 2 year junior college? Do pharmacy schools have a preference?

there is proly a slight preference. I'd go to a 4 year school if possible. Also getting a BA/BS degree is starting to be the norm... So, you could start at community college and transfer to a 4 year school. Just do well where ever u go, everything else will take care of itself.

I'm a high school senior as well so I feel your concern. I actually posted a thread similar to this not so long ago. Basically from the responses I got, go to the school YOU want to go to. For me, money is at the top of my list of importance and so I'll probably stay home if I don't get into my "dream" in-state university.

I think as high schoolers [and soon-to-be pre-pharm students] we should really just focus more on getting the actual pre-reqs done as opposed to what school we attend whether CC or a 4-year university. It's pharmacy school that matters the most, so we might as well save the stress and worry of applications to when we're ready to apply for a college of pharmacy.

Well, I had followed that route and ended up having to finish my 4-year degree at a University. My suggestion is to apply right out of high school into a 2+4 at the Pharmacy school of your choice, and try to get in that way. Otherwise, I did 3 years at NVCC, finished my pre-reqs, and (didn't get in). It was recommended to me by various Pharmacy admission counselors to get my BS and re-apply.
So personally, unless you plan on doing the 2+4 straight into Pharmacy school (no junior college), I would suggest getting a BS/BA. Its not REQUIRED, but definitely preferred. Hope this helps, and good luck.

I have to agree with floating TECH on this one. You can still go through the CC route however your grades must be near perfect!
