advice MCAT

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I forgot to mention that I only need 2 more classes to finish up my pre-reqs. Should I take them all over again or should i just finish it up and concentrate on the MCATs.

-Are the pre-reqs (general chem, O.chem physics and bio) important for doing well on the MCATs?
-How hard is the MCATs after a long hiatus?
-and how shouyld i sutdy for them?

1. There is only one MCAT, not multiple 😀
2. Take all of the prereqs before preparing for and taking the MCAT (or at least be taking the classes at the same time).
3. Don't repeat courses, but you could sit in on a class if you think that might help.
4. Get a copy of the Exam Krackers, Princeton, and Kaplan comprehensive review books for the MCAT. Read them all, but skip their practice exams. Just read and study the material.
5. If you have a long commute or lots of down time in the car then buy the Exam Krackers Audio Osmosis and listen to it until you want to scream.
6. Pay the USD$200 or so to the AAMC (http://www.aamc.org) to buy their complete set of old MCAT exams. Use Exam 3R, 4R, and 5R as a diagnostic, midterm, and final to measure your progress. Use the other exams to practice, practice, practice under simulated testing conditions that you will encounter on test day.
7. Exercise, eat well, be nice to your other premeds.

For number 2, wouldnt my MCAT score suffer after a long hiatus?

Anyone else in a similar situation?

I was in a similar situation, worse actually since I had been out of school for 15 years. I was able to review the material with no major problems.

I took the MCAT six year after General Bio. In my experience, a through study of MCAT review books followed by intensive practice was good enough. I used the ExamKracker review books, which I liked very much for their breezy, concise style. But I am sure other ones (Kaplan, Princeton, etc) should be good as well.
