Need some help. I graduated from Stony Brook in 2019 with a 2.3 GPA, and it’s been a very humbling experience to see how limited I am in career options. Since then I have done a second bachelors degree as a post bacc in Healthcare Policy and Management with over 60 credits so far at a 4.0. I should be done within next year and I need some advice. I have worked since 2022 as a medical laboratory assistant, medical assistant and currently as a medical coordinator with a possibility of transferring to a research tech later this year at Sloan Kettering. I have plenty of clinical experience with a good amount of volunteering and shadowing (over 100 hours). I am also currently doing research with one of my oncologists in gastric cancer, and have three top recommendation letters from top oncologists and my upper division professors (Biochem and Anatomy). I have completed about 114 credits at Stony Brook and am nearly there to average both out with a 3.0 soon. In regards to the MCAT, I’m taking it later this year with practice tests everaging about 510. What do you think is the best course of action to do? I can’t afford an SMP, so that’s not viable for me right now. Would DO be possible now with the loss of grade replacement? I just need some help, since I’ve come so far since 2021, and I just want something good to come out of it. I’ve worked at NYU Langone and MSK primarily and I am willing to do whatever it takes to get to MD or even a DO program. Please help?😞
