I kind of asked this question before but I'm really stressing out these days because it seem that most people applied to 10 or more schools and I only applied to 5 schools. Is it stupid of me to only apply to schools I want to attend or should I increase my school numbers?

SO far only two out of the five I applied invited me for an interview. I don't know what to do because I really don't have the money to apply to alot of schools.

ANd furthermore, Did anyone ever got rejected from every single schools that invited them for an interview? what are the chances for the waitlist?

Hmm, from what I've heard the average number of designated schools is 10. Someone mentioned that if you have 3 interviews, you have a very good shot of getting in. Anyways, good luck

what schools did you apply to?

I was told by an ADCOM from UMich that 5 schools is plenty. I applied to 9 and have 3 interviews thus far.

P.S. You can always add more schools after submitting to AADSAS (pending the schools deadline).

I applied to UPENN, Temple, Pitts, NYU, and BU

you have very nice DAT scores (congrats!) but your science gpa is 2.99, right? i'd apply to more schools. however, your DAT might be able to get you in at least one of the 5. whether u apply to 53 or 5 doesn't really matter if dent is ur passion.. not that i applied to 53. you can just elaborate on that to the adcoms if they do ask. anywho, GL!

It depends if you are a resident of a state that has a school or not, I am in utah and I know very few people that apply to less than 10 schools most are applying to 12-15 schools-if you have the money why take the risk?

I'm in the same boat.

I have a 3.1 Sci GPA and a DAT of 21/20/21. I'm an NC resident and have really only applied to those close by: UNC, VCU, UMD, UKY, MUSC. I don't really want to go too far, but most of these give strong preferences to instaters. I haven't gotten any interviews yet, but my application is just now becoming complete as I took the DAT September 18th.

Should I add more? If so, who would be best at this point in the game? Any thoughts on Louisville as a possibility this late?

I feel the same way. I live in AZ, so I went with 20 schools. 😉

My understanding is Louisville is filling up-but it would not hurt to call and ask-they are really nice there. I know Dalhousie (canada) is a great school - tough to get into but they do not look at apps till later in the game.

I would call the schools you are thinking about and ask if it would be a good idea or not-before you apply there

I applied to twelve. I was invited to 11 interviews. I attended seven interviews. I was accepted to 5 schools and waitlisted at 2 schools.

Deciding how many schools to apply to is influenced by your GPA, DAT and state of residence. Some students (for example, residents of North Carolina or Georgia) have a very good chance of getting into their state school, and really don't need to apply to more than a couple of schools. Based on my experience and talking with others, applicants applied to 8 or 9 schools. And, most recieved at least two acceptances.

a little late for lousiville i think. i spoke with admissions ppl earlier this week and they have over 2000 apps for out of state

Thanks for the input.

I called Louisville and they said it's not too late, so I'm going to give that a try. Anyone have any other suggestions as to schools that would look at late applications (and I would have a reasonable chance at?)

I did 8, and have had 6 invites, havent heard from MD and OHSU, but they're just a little slow. It all really depends on your stats and when you apply. I felt confident in my stats and applied very early so I would be one of the first reviewed not the last. Just be smart and dont apply to a school that won't be a good match for you, you'll be miserable, and that bad

Hey five is enough considering your scores and the fact that you have actually applied NYU. You have my guarantee you'll get into one of them at least. Any interviews yet?

I have two interviews so far. ALthough I'm pretty sure I wont get one from UPenn because I filled out my secondary application by hand and very sloppily at that. I don't know what I was thinking. Perhaps I thought I have no chance because of my low GPA and lack of research experiences so I sabotage my chances with the sloppy secondary application. Realistically, I think there's a rejection letter from Upenn to me in the works because I applied fairly early and no interview invites yet and I know others who already got invites.

I should have taken advantage of a friend's offer to talk to UPENN adcom on my behalf. But I was too proud to be accepted based on anything other than merits. Me and my pride !

I applied to 8 schools as follows UNLV, UNC, VCU, Louisville, Iowa, Maryland, Creighton, and UoP do you think I have a chance to get into one with the following stats: DAT 22AA 19TS 20PAT and a 3.35GPA and 3.52sGPA? I have two interviews at UNLV and UNC.

Unless something majorly weird happen to you during the interview, you are set. As set as can be. Dental schools prefer applicants with high GPA and a DAT that validate those GPA's. SO if your DAT correlate somewhat with your DAT, you are a shoe-in. 100%. And I think this is the case for you.

For an example
if they were to pick between you and me based on our DAT and GPA alone. It's a no-brainer, they'd go for you because you're consistent.
