So, I am FREAKING OUT :scared:! It just hit me that I will be applying for dental school in this upcoming cycle (2014). However, I have not taken my DAT yet. And the only time I will have time to study/take it is after I finish summer school, which isn't until beginning of August! Should I go ahead and submit my application early (June/July), even though I probably won't take the test until early September (which means official scores won't come out until later in Sept or Oct.)? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Agreed if you submit your scores in August it's too late. I would cut off all extracurricular activities, hunker down, get in a Kaplan class, and take the test in June

if you submit your scores in september, you're shooting yourself in the foot.

i agree with the above poster. knock the exam out by july latest

Cancel summer school, DAT is more important.

I ended up taking my exam on August 30th. Good news: I was happy with my score. Bad news: I haven't gotten an acceptance yet. Would I do it again? IDK, on one hand I was able to get it out of the way with a high enough score that I do not have to retake it. On the other hand, I might have to reapply.

+1. Focus your April, May, and early June on the DAT only. Schools will still accept you if you have pre-reqs in progress and do decent enough on the DAT. But schools will not accept you if you have a bad DAT score and/or apply as late as September.
