Hey everyone,
So some advice would be greatly appreciated. I have been accepted to two internship programs this summer. One program consists of working at a larga Pharma company although it is all the way across the country and i would be away from my friends and family. On the other hand i got accepted to a program, where i would be able to live at home and also complete research at a near by IVY leauge school. While the internship at the Pharma company pays well and also being away from home across the country would be a great learning experience, i feel that time with family and friends is becoming more and more limited especially when medical school begins so i believe being around this summer would allow me to spend some quality time with them. Although i am afraid that if i dont go across the country and work at the Pharma company i may be missing out on a great life experience. I was wondering what everyone on here would do if they were in my position.
THANKS

I've done summer research at both big pharma and a prestigious university (also Ivy league), and my advice would be to take the pharma internship. The pay is one attractive factor about pharma; however, another factor is that you probably have the opportunity to do research during the school year at your undergrad university, but you might not have another opportunity to see how the pharmaceutical industry works before you enter the medical field. Just my two cents!
