Oh trust me, Midwestern is going to be great!!! I have a friend there and he said he's enjoying MW to the fullest!!! It's a VERY friendly and less tressful learning environment comapred to the other schools. GO THERE IF I WERE YOU!!!

Hello,

I got a call today from Midwestern University. It's very rewarding to hear from them, but now the dilemma begins.

I go to school in Boston, and I very much got used to New England area. I am kinda afraid of relocating... more afraid to go to Arizona than to go to Cali. I don't know what I am afraid of actually.. just having a mixed feeling. And they are both fairly new schools; it makes it hard for me to decide which school is better.

There are the pros and cons of both schools

-Both schools got the initial accreditation;
-You take NBDE I after first year in Midwestern, after second year in Western;
-brand new technology and the buildings are pretty much set unlike western
-Midwestern has a huge campus, more money --> potential for a greater development??
-i am asian, better for me to go to cali overall.. but that doesn't make a good reason

What else??

Help!! Please... =(

hi, I am waiting call from Midwestern. When did you have the interview??

Did you only get notified by call? not email or MWU status webpage??

i've heard nothing but good things about MWU... although i liked western too, a lot of their facilities aren't even set yet (you have to go off-campus for sim labs i think, and they don't even have clinics built). MWU on the other hand, has pristine labs and what everyone is saying about their friendliness is definitely true... one of the most friendly schools i've visited.

my vote goes to MWU!

i love cali and i will live there again very soon, but the phoenix area is a better place to be than pomona. the only plus to living in pomona is that san diego and LA aren't that far away. the dean of Western is a great guy and from what i understand he has put together a great staff and a first rate curriculum, and the drawings of your dschool buildings are amazing. i love it here at MWU and we got asians too! hahaha but you gotta decide for yourself where you will do your best at and be happiest.

I was impressed with both schools as well. A lot of D.O. students don't live in pomona, they live in places like chino hills and commute. Pomona isn't the nicest area, but there are plenty of nice areas around. Last year there was a ton of movement within the Midwestern waitlist, but now that people have seen the actual buildings, they all want to go there. My guess is that it will be the same at Western. Movement this cycle (not as much with a class size of 60), and then pretty solid numbers next cycle. Remember how nive the Vet School building was at Western? I'm sure you can expect similar results for the dental students. You can't go wrong either way from my point of view. Although if you were to choose Western, perhaps one of my many friends on the gargantuous alternate list at Midwestern will get your spot.😀

The students and environment at Midwestern are really nice. Western are really cool too since it is in Cali and 20 mins from LA.
One thing that i like most about Midwestern is that i feel that i can get help and corporate with students here!
Gluck
p.s Since you are Asian, i recommended going to Midwestern since they are indeed need more Asian there ahaha, esp cute Asian😀

You probably can't go wrong either way. For me, IFF I had a choice--Cali sounds nice> I don't really knwo anyone near or around Arizona so that would be the scariest thing for me. But if you think you are OK with it then you should pick whatever school you had the best gut feeling about. If Western is a new school, they won't mess up their facilities--they will def. make them worthwhile. You just might have to trust in it like the first years and MWU did. Either way, good luck--both schools sound great!! I don't nkow too much about Western--would you be the first class? If not, try talking ot students there!
Congrats on your acceptances!

WU is very close to the 2 big city and shouldn't take too long to built a clientele.

MidW is in AZ, it's safe but the city might be boring (plz correct me if I'm wrong) compare to LA and SD.
