Hello,

I need a little bit of advice, I took my DAT today and didn't do well.
1st time
PAT - 14
QR - 13
RC - 13
BIO - 15
GC - 14
OC - 14
AA - 14
TS - 14

2nd time
PAT - 15
QR - 16
RC - 16
BIO - 17
GC - 19
OC - 17
AA - 17
TS - 17

I feel really down. I know I have to retake. But I put about 2 1/2 months into studying the second time around. I really don't know what to do. I plan on applying for the next cycle so I do have enough time. I need some advice on how to study and do better. Please don't write anything negative or mean, I already feel dumb.

What materials did you use to prepare? What is your studying technique? Giving us more background on your preparation methods will help us give you more specific advice.
I agree Mr "F" we need more information. The good news is the scores came up from the first time, but appears to be some weakness in the sciences, perhaps not a good foundation in the course work or how long ago were the classes taken, what is the science GPA?

You are NOT dumb...The DAT is a very hard test, and you improved your scores, that shows me you up put in time and hours of study. So don't beat yourself up, you have to take it again ; so do your best to identify your weakness and put effort in that area. You might have to hire a tutor or get some help from a friend. Hang in there...

I was in a very similar situation as you, I recommend you check out my breakdown. You aren't dumb, chin up, work harder and you will do even better.

I used KBB blue book and took a lot of notes. I also used Chads videos, DAT Destroyer.

You can use Chads videos, DAT Destroyer.

KBB was the least helpful source for me. I really don't understand why it is considered to be the "go to source" when it comes to DAT prep. But Chads and Destroyer were my favs, not sure why you didn't find them helpful.

I went through the Destroyer 2 times. But I feel like I kind of memorized the answers without truly knowing the answers. I am going to keep studying and read Cliffs, re-watch Chads. But how do I get better in the PAT section?

In my opinion, the proper way to go through DAT Destroyer is to understand not only the answers to the questions, but to the answer choices and the explanation, from there destroyer turns into thousands of invaluable questions. For the PAT I used Crack DAT and I found it sufficient for the DAT.

I read your breakdown! Thank you for your response! I feel like all I can do now is improve. (I'm trying to think positively!).

No problem I hope you found it helpful! I worked extremely hard to get into school. I KNOW if you work hard enough and study correctly you can do it!
