hi all.

I'm currently third year Chemistry major with 3.5 GPA and just started practicing for MCAT last month which I plan to take in August. I also have some volunteer work and shadowing, also chem research experiences. I'm worry a lot about my GPA which I know it does not look competitive at all. Can anyone give me some advices in which schools I should apply for?

DO schools for backup, your state MD schools, some reaches, and some of your dream schools?

Idk, maybe other posters have other additions to this

What state are you in? Either way, apply broadly and not top heavy. The MSAR is a good resource to see what schools you'd be competitive at based on your numbers alone. How long until you apply? Keep doing well in your classes and boost that GPA as much as possible before now and then.

I'm from Nebraska. We have 2 med schools here, one of them is private and they are both have ave GPA around 3.7 or 3.8 . so I'm looking for out of state private schools. some of my friends told me about some med schools in Caribbean which might not be so difficult to get into. but I dont know 😕

Op you are insane if you take the advice of people suggesting Caribbean. I honestly think you have a decent chance at mid tier md schools, why? Medical schools are not stupid, your a chemistry major and they know right off the bat that chemistry isn't something many people simply achieve a 3.8 gpa in

A 3.5, while not great, is not a bad GPA. Certainly if you do very well on the MCAT and are well-rounded, you'll have a fair chance at getting into at least one MD school. Whatever you do, don't go the Caribbean route. Do a quick search if you're wondering why.

This. Don't go to the Caribbean. You have a good chance at state MD schools with a good MCAT score. Best of luck!🙂
