Advice on an unbalanced MCAT score (511, but unbalanced)

I'm not sure what I should do with my MCAT of a score of 511; 131/121/129/130. 121 on CARS is extremely low and I'm really worried when applying to medical schools. I have never scored that low ever on my practice tests. I'm so lost, as I felt I did ok on that section, and did really well on the science sections.



What should I do? I was going to apply to most DO schools and some low- to mid- tier MD

I don't think it would hinder you dramatically for DO schools, although others on the forum will have more advice on this issue. Do you consider your GPA stats to be pretty decent? What about the rest of your application?

I have about a 3.4 overall gpa, with strong upward trend (2 years of 4.0). And have research for a year (probably will be published), working as an EMT, 300 hours of clinical volunteering, 2 years volunteering for food bank that helps those with low income who have HIV.

No English is my 1st language. I really don’t know went wrong. > 90% tile on all science sections and 121 on CARS?

However, I did get 124,123,125 on FL1, FL2, FL3

I hate CARS

Some schools will reject you automatically because they do a section screen. Do a search for “low cars”. There is a school list floating around. Nice job on the science sections, you killed it.

Yeah man I don't know what to tell you, that's very bizarre. If English is your fist language then it might be a tough sell. That's a difficult situation to be in but with a retake I'm sure you can easily score 515 and an MD school will take you without question. Just make sure to really prepare for CARS by doing a lot of practice passages and tests.
