Sorry for the question but i would certainly appreciate advice.

I am applying for IM late (ie. getting application together now). What is considered late? At how much of a disadvantage will I be by applying now? I had not considered doing IM until I did a 4th year medicine rotation and decided that this is where I am supposed to be.

What's the word in for IM apps? Am I seriously late?

Thank you!

Later than most? Yes. Too late? Absolutely not. If you have all your ducks in a row (LORs especially) and can get your PS done, reviewed and edited in the next week, you'll be fine. Remember that the MSPE won't come out for another month.

I agree. I don't think you're too late at all! Most programs have mid November date for deadline, you're way before this right now, just get it in by the end of this week for sure and you'll be fine. Most programs don't start looking into it till the Dean's letter comes out. Also, i think once your app goes in, the PC will get a notification and look over your app.

G'luck!

Unless things have changed a lot in the past 5 years, then no, you are not too late. IM doesn't interview early like urology and some of the others. Most interviews are in later November, December and some in January...at least that is how it used to be. Just make sure you don't miss the deadlines, and hopefully get things done within the next couple of weeks. I think you should be fine, particularly if you are a US grad with no big red flags on your application.
