advice on applying to 2 very different specialties

I am planning on applying to 2 very different medical specialties one of which is very competitive and the other is middle of the road competitive. I'm drawn to each for very different reasons which I will not go into here. What are some general things I should know about when filling out my ERAS, getting LORs, and interviewing when attempting to play this game. I very much so desire to stay at my home programs for either residency so I will be applying for a spot in both specialties at my home school (I'm not sure if there will be other programs yet that I will be applying for a spot in both).
