Well you certainly have come to the right place. This place has proven to be a wonderful resource for me and I suspect for you as well.

I hear Qing is a wonderful person and researcher. She appears to share many of your interests. I wish you luck on the GRE!!

Hey thanks!
I am checking her out now.
You are right, she seems right in line with my interests. I will add her to my lists of schools to check out and look up some of her articles.
My only concern would be she seems very focused on developmental psy and again, it is not my forte. I guess you always have something to improve with. I'm assuming you have gone to school with her?

oh no. I haven't even met her. I have read a handful of her papers and I have corresponded with her by email about a possible research match but in the end, we don't match up that well. I met with another Cal professor about a year ago, Silvia Bunge, who told me to talk with her about research. Qing seems much more well matched with your interests. Read her stuff and reach out to her.
good luck.
A B+ in one class does not mean you aren't good at something!
Really, I got a B+ in my intro to clinical class in undergrad and I don't feel like it's affecting my performance in the first year of my PhD. In undergrad grades vary so much based on learning style, teaching style, even the relative abilities of other people in the class since the administration generally has a mandatory average that the class needs to come out with.
It's not like you got a D. 🙂

thanks for all the info. I am going to print out and read some of her articles-- as soon as I find a printer here in Japan.

Yeah, I know I didn't get a D, but all of you folks make me really nervous. I hear some of your credentials and am completely floored. The least I can do is make sure my grades hang in there.
For her class 50% of the students dropped out after the first exam (300 to 150) and in the end only 3 people received A's. One of those trick question exams. I worked my but off in that class.
The only reason I would be concerned about that is because of this professor's interests. I will probably take the subject GRE just in case, and the she cannot question me too much.

Check out Dr. Yeh's work at UCSD/SDSU joint clinical program - I think she's in the experimental psychopathology track. That might be a good fit for you. I'm not too familiar with the program or her work, but I did find it interesting when I stumbled upon it during my search for programs.
In general, if you can, I would recommend going to a couple of schools websites and look up the curriculum for the various types of psych programs. That might give you a better sense of what kind of training is out there, and then, help you figure out what kind of training is a good fit for you.
