I am currently a second-semester sophomore looking to bolster my non-clinical volunteering. I would just like to have a your honest opinions on two possible opportunities that I have recently learned about. The first is with Habitat for Humanity. It's not actually working on a build site (I hope to get that started in the spring). I'll be working in one of their "Restores", a warehouse of sorts where they organize all of their construction materials. The second opportunity comes in the form of volunteering at my local Goodwill store. In all honesty, I did not that this was even a possibility until very recently. I'm just wondering if these are valid volunteer opportunities? Thanks for your time.

The Habitat for Humanity opportunity sounds great if it leads to construction in the spring. Ideally by the time you apply you should have community service (Clinical or non-clinical volunteering, although I heard that clinical volunteering is mandatory). However, both are definitely valid for volunteering. If you have the time during the semester, look into hospital volunteering for 2-3 hours a week too.

Clinical and non clinical volunteering isn't mandatory, per se, but no one is going to be taken seriously without something to show for it. OP, whichever one you will enjoy the most and think will make you learn something/mature, is the volunteer opportunity you should take. I know very little about either of them, so I can't give any opinions. Do what you will enjoy and excel at.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I'll try out both and see how it goes.
