Welll.....i bought the CDP..the 10 test version....and i started it....i dont have the DAT untill aug. 13.....and i dont want to waste all my tests before then.

I took the first test and got a 20. I found cube counting and the hole punching to be harder then any of the practice tests ive taken. Ive been practicing with the 4500 and 2500Q that they give u for those...angles is my strong point...ill miss 1 max or 2 max....but KEY HOLES are killing me im gettin 8/15 7/15...i can never seem to break 10 and i want some more practice for that section....all the other sections im avg. 12 or 13.

Anyone have any techniques to help me with keyholes????its always my lowest score!!

I too would like some help with keyholes 🙂. Thanks in advance!

I just went over the explanations for the keyholes and some of them are flat out wrong...the picture and the explanation are different...i dont kno if im seeing things....i wish i can post the Q. on here....but...im not that computer literate.

On another note...is the size of everything on the screen the same as CDP...cuz the key holes seem really small....is the screen shot for CDP just like the screen shot on the real exam....i hope the exams images are slightly larger. some of the keyholes, well from my perspective i hope im wrong but i cant seem to see it otherwise, seem like they want me to know parts of the fig. that i cant see..??

I am having this EXACT problem and those EXACT questions. I dot why CDP gets so much hype if its wrong or it must be something we are not seieng

Can u guys post those questions that appear incorrect?

Use the print screen button on your keyboard and insert the image here and we'll take a look.

i took the first 2 cdp tests too and i am doing really bad. I know i have to pace myself but I don't know wht to do.

I took the first test and totally didn't reach the last section on pattern folding. I got a 16

next text i was determine dto go faster and reached teh pattern folding but....missed many questions and got 18

I am doing bad on the keyholes and angles. Specially obtuse angles kill me.

Can anyone give me advice on how i should be pacing myself. I mean does keyhole usually take a lot of time? roughly if anyone can give me a idea as to what section of pat i should spend most time on and which one to spend lesser and lesser time. Sort of an order. I cant decide now coz i feel i suck at ppretty much everything. arrghh

What strategy do you use here? I found Kaplan's angles extremely easy, but when I went to CDP (like exam 7), I spent 20 damn minutes on angles and still got 4 wrong. I bulge my eyes. Actually I'm starting to wonder if I need glasses. Do you use the "hill" method or you just look at the tip of the angle or ...?

For keyholes, Kaplan suggests looking at the projections, which can work well sometimes but I'm not sure if that's all I do. Another very important thing to consider is the relative and absolute dimensions of everything. For example if the hole is smaller, larger than it is in the 3D diagram or to the side instead of the middle, etc. Basically once I see a possible answer, I basically go through all the holes and side lengths and compare them to the 3D, making sure it's all good. I can usually finish it within 8-9 minutes, missing 0-1 questions.

Are you strong in TFE? If so, try imagining the keyhole shapes as TFE's without the inside lines/dashes. There are a few keyholes tossed in the exams that I have gripes about in terms of perspective accuracy, but not enough for me to call out the whole program as bad.

As for pacing, personally Keyholes and TFE were my two slowest sections. I try to get through the first 15 within 10 minutes and at most 15 mintues in TFE. I made up the time on angles - pick out the angles really quick, and if you can't, staring at them for another minute probably won't help you much anyway. On average I'm at 30 mins left at halfway point. Any extra time I have left I use to go back to marked questions (most often keyholes).

If you're still having trouble, you can try what my father suggested when I was having problems with pacing - just mark down b for all of your weakest section and get back to them last. Theoretically all the questions have the same weight right? A minute spent to get a hard keyhole question wrong would be better spent getting two cube count questions right.

AHHH ur sooo lucky....i F in hate the keyholes and i just started goin through the hole punching "the 2500" that i have lol and i think they are WAY over the top i keep getting these half holes and they drive me crazy. on the practice pat tests ive taken so far i havent had much of a problem with hole punching maybe 2 or 3 wrong. angles i dont kno...sometimes i get it and sometimes i dont...it really depends....wat i do is i dont stare....i just look and if i cant tell close my eyes for a sec then open and examine them just for a sec and make up my mind. wats the hill method?

I got schooled by the painted cube part when I took mine today, which is pretty sad because I'd think that would be the easiest one.

14/15 on keyhole.
13/15 on top/front/end
7/15 on angles
7/15 on hole punches
5/15 on cube counting
12/15 on pattern folding

I had a couple minutes to spare but by the time I got to the end I just wanted to be done with it
