Hey guys, I'd really appreciate your thoughts on how you'd rank the following programs, strictly on the strength of the program. Know there's other factors (location, happiness of residents, how well I seem to fit), but trying to decide which 8-10 programs to interview at, and how they stack up.

My tentative rank list:

1. MUSC
2. University of Tennessee
3. University of Miami
4. Rush
5. Texas Tech
6. University of Mississippi
7. Texas A&M
8. University of Arkansas
9. Case Western, University

Declined MCG, Case Western MetroHealth, LSU Shrevport, University of Louisville, and UF Jacksonville.

Edit: Received an invite from University of Chicago over the weekend. Jump to #1?

Wish I could help more, but I only interviewed at MUSC and Case UH out of those programs (I cancelled Case Metrohealth.) I loved MUSC, and thought Case UH was a solid program too. Haven't heard much about the rest of those programs, except what I've read on this forum about Rush which was repeated by most people I met who interviewed there. Worth a search. I had really wanted to interview at A&M - love the area and have heard good things about the program, it's known to be family friendly.

Hi courtnes, thanks for the response, it was really helpful. Good to hear positive things about MUSC and Case UH. Also feel better about canceling Metrohealth, which I was leaning towards but was hesitant to pull the trigger. Really helpful info on Rush. Searched through some recent posts, and found the info pretty eye opening. I'll probably keep the invite (family nearby, so can tie it in with a visit), but it'll be nice to have a little heads up before going (and to better be able to evaluate if things have changed). How high did you rank MUSC?

Louisville never gets any love, but it provides outstanding clinical training in a great town.

MUSC wound up midway on my list of ~15 programs solely due to geography. Would have been higher if not for the ol' ball and chain necessitating such a focus. 😉

All are good programs of course, but that said I would consider Louisville and Arkansas above Tech or Mississippi based off location and a few other factors I think you'd figure out during an interview. I was pretty impressed with UofL despite knowing little about it going into the interview and Arkansas is a solid choice (even with my personal bias) and Little Rock is more spouse friendly from a relocation/livability perspective than Lubbock or Jackson. I hear good things about MUSC and great things about A&M.

Thanks, good to know. Heard good things about Louisville and Arkansas from current/past residents, though the programs aren't regarded that highly for some reason. Had both of those on my "to cancel" list before hearing some good experiences. Interested to see how they are in person.

Cancel lsu Rush metro health mcg and Arkansas

Thanks for your thoughts. LSU, MetroHealth, and MCG are gone. Been on the fence about Rush, but might keep it because it's near family and I'll be in the area for a U of Chicago interview. Had ruled out Arkansas, but heard many positive things from a current resident, and think it's worth a look.
