Hey guys! I've been reading these forums a lot but never made an account so just decided to make one and ask for your advice 🙂
I'm graduating college with a 3.63 cgpa and 3.58 sgpa. Really strong upward trend. I've gotten all A's and two A-'s since my second quarter of Junior year!
I've been just taking practice MCATs but I'm scoring around a 513.
I have a decent amount of shadowing, not that many extracurriculars (member of a sorority, held a position, but that's about it other than being a member of a pre-health club), lots of volunteer hours helping the underserved and tutoring, worked at a doctors office for 2 years, worked in a lab for one (only acknowledgements, no pubs).
I feel like my cgpa and sgpa are a bit low, and since I'm taking 2 gap years, I was wondering if I should take some of that time to take classes at my local community college in biology and chemistry to try to raise my GPA a bit more... And/or retake the classes I got C's in (the first 2 parts of ochem series and the first class of the physics series). What do med schools think of this? Is this looked down upon because I'd be taking the classes at a community college? I kind of want to take the classes anyways just to learn more.. I'm already bored being back at home lol.
Is there anything I can do to strengthen my app besides rock the MCAT? I feel a little uneasy about my GPA. Also, any suggestions for a school list? I know it's premature considering I don't have an MCAT score but are there any schools I should be looking into?
Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it!
