my friend is in kinda of a situation. He is not in engineering but he took a programming class for credits and fun. He was on a tight exam schedule and one assignment he didnt have time and as allowed he did google and programming documentation search and was looking for a partial credit on the assignment, even without running (compiling the program) he submitted.

The teacher of the class flagged the assignment as AI generated. While the sem is over that old teacher is hell bent to report to the academic integrity board.

While my friend didnt use ai, but used online search and online templates, the teacher insists they are advanced and they are likely ai generated

Now my friend aims to apply for med schools in a couple of years down the road. Regrets taking the class

What are his options ? This is first, but probably will go through integrity board hearing as my friend refused to sign violation form. Thanks …. Can he ever recover from this

Thanks for responding. Agree with your suggestion on acct creation, but he is scared and depressed.

He hasnt hired a lawyer. Would that help?
Yes, unknown journey and pathway, but he is willing and open to following advice. Thanks

There is a confidential forum that your friend can use.

That said, school rules are different than laws. The student doesn't need a lawyer to meet with the integrity board and walk through the process taken to create the response to the assignment. That might reassure the board that the rule against AI was not broken.
