If it were me, I would go Lakenheath. When else will you be able to move to Europe and live there for free? I like to travel and to be so close to London/France/Germany/Italy would be great, plus you get a COLA I believe...

Best of luck in your decision! See you around...

Just heard from the AF assignments guy, and he's giving me a choice between Andrews or Lakenheath, any advice?

Personally I would stay as far away from Andrew's as possible. The hospital there has pretty much been run down into a community clinic without any real inpatient support. You definitely won't be getting any major surgeries there. Although I don't necessarily agree with his stances a good source of info is medicalcorpse's website www.medicalcorpse.com . I don't know much about Lakenheath though, so it may be a similar situation, but at least it's somewhere neat. I plan on staying as far away from DC for my entire career as possible.

Lakenheath. Try to make sure that you don't have too much debt that ways you down because the cost of living in the UK is pretty high.

Avoid living on base at all costs. Living on the economy is so much more of a life experience than base housing.

Well, it's done - we are going to Lakenheath. I must have the nicest assignments guy in the Air Force. I can't believe he actually called to give me a choice. I just assumed I was going to Biloxi since I ranked it last.

 Good decision. I can only hope I'll be so fortunate when my time comes. My wife and I want to go to Europe for my payback.

Luck was on your side this time. Hope it stays with you, and you don't end up in some hospital dump where there is nothing to do. Though with anesthesia, they are so short handed, that they are likely to put you in a place you can actually do your work.

Good luck

Go to Europe. It's a trip, and deffinitely worth it. After all, the old saying was "join the Navy, see the world." The UK is great, and you will appreciate how much less taxed you are than progressive Europe. Plus the beer is better, and they do speak english.

That's what I was offered, and I DID rank it last.
