OK, I've applied to the following schools after doing my homework on them. Since there's so many smart people on this forum, I thought I'd check with you guys about what you thought about the specific schools.

Rochester- like their double helix ciric. with clerkship starting first year, but is that too early?

Stanford
Columbia
Case Western
UMDNJ, Newark & Robert Wood
Upitt-

Also, did anyone get secondaries from Stanford, pitt, or case western? I want to know what the essays are like.

Thanks:

I dont think anyone has received anything from Stanford or Pitt yet.

I liked Rochester a lot. They were my second choice out of schools I was accepted at (ahead of schools like Columbia, UCLA, others), mostly because of their curriculum (not sure if I'd like living in Rochester though). I don't think the first year clerkship is too early, but I doubt it's much different from other first year clinical experiences at most schools, because at that point you don't know very much and you aren't doing much more than history taking anyway.

I was personally less partial to Columbia. Any Columbia SDNers can certainly correct me, but I think their curriculum is a lot more conservative than most places (8-5 every day kind of thing). Plus I didn't care much for the campus or hospital, and the students seemed to have a "work hard, party hard" mentality that doesn't really fit my personality. And several people have mentioned the "Ivy League Fraternity" look of the student body, which may or may not appeal to certain people.

Don't know about the others, but I've heard great things about Pitt and Stanford.

Univ of Pitt? i didnt know they had a med school. (stupid me)

stanford.. yes i have to agree.. its a great school.

pitt hasnt said a peep yet. case western sent its secondary via email - basically you have to write a 2 page essay on any topic other than medicine. pretty easy. good luck! if you hear from pitt, please post it!! thanks!
