do i sound that out there? i realize you are in and interviewing is a long-gone trivial memory, but i figured you could take a second to give me your two cents.

there are some ppl in dental school with horrible teeth--yellow, crooked, etc--you name it. so don't worry if you're just isn't quite as white as you want it.

Isn't having a dentist with bad teeth just like having a psychiatrist who is crazy? Dentists should have nice teeth. So, I think you should bleach them before your interview.

true, but i don't think that's how they base their admissions decision

I'd say, if you feel that bleaching your teeth will give you more confidence during your interview, go for it. But in general, it's not really the most important thing to worry about.

Did you forget that you will most probably be interviewing with a ... DENTIST ?
Don't you think he/she would be able to tell if you have bleached your teeth or not ?
My opinion, it is a completely superficial matter to discuss ... I can assure you that it will not sway your interview/interviewers in any whatsoever way. You might get a date while you're there, but that's pretty much it !
Try bleaching other aspects of your application.

alright, that's what i thought, i'm confident as is... thanks and best of luck to all of you...

you don't need to bleach. just go in there and talk about your accomplishments. there's more to being a dentist then having good teeth yourself. my teeth are relatively crooked due to a bad orthodontist and they weren't like whiter then a piece of paper.

i still got in. 👍

...more likely due to non-compliance with your retainer. It's OK; this is the internet. You don't have to take responsibility for your own actions here.

BTW, I think some of the nastiest teeth in the school are in professor's mouths. I mean, they have been surrounded by dentists every day for the last 20 years and still haven't gotten around to controlling their perio problems or replacing those corroding black class V amalgams. ewww

i think they follow the rule htat functionality is more important..t

To answer your question, yes I bleached every day for a week before my interviews. Did it make any difference at all? Probably not. Do you need to go out and get a bleaching tray if you want to get into dental school? Definitely not. Is this the most ridiculous thread I've seen in a long time? Absolutely. Do you need to stop stressing so much about something that is 6 months down the road and learn to enjoy life-before-dental school? Survey says...Yes.

I DID TOO! HEHEHE

bleach em! no one wants to look at an ugly yellow mouth excet for some dentist.
Your interviewer is likely going to be a bitter oral biologist so it wouldn't hurt.
😀 😀

I love how all of you are so hard on the OP...as if you weren't a scared little predent at one point (or still are).

The original question is akin to getting a haircut before your interview, making sure you are nicely groomed, perhaps buying a new suit which many of you probably did. The OP simply wants to put their best foot forward on what is an important day for them. Some of you are so quick to jump on people here. As someone else said, if it makes you more confident, then bleach away. Don't worry, not everyone is as critical once you get into dental school. And if you all are naive enough to think appearance doesn't matter during your interview, you better open your eyes to reality one of these days.

i heard that you should actually have a colonic before the inTview 😀

Does this mean you had colonics before all your interviews then? 😱

Unfortunatley, we have no idea of what each interviewer's biases are. I say it's better to be safe than sorry. If the OP perceives it as a potential issue then I say do it. Otherwise, he or she will wonder what if. To each his own... 🙄

If you have the $$$ then I don't see any reason why not to. I think it can only help. Or you could do something more subtle like using the Crest Whitestrips Supreme from your dentist. They're cheaper and provide just enough lightening to "maintain your sexy."

Completely unnecessary. They're interviewing you to attend their school, not to put you on a magazine cover. 😉

Well put.

I didn't, but I don't need it either. If I would have thought about it, I would have! No big deal. I think it is important to have great teeth as a dentist.
