I am a nontraditional student who transferred from a 6 year pharmacy program after 4 years into a regular undergrad to finish a bio degree. Long story short, I was an immature student who only focused on having fun and getting extracurriculars because I wanted to get into pharma, but I started having a lot of personal problems so I ended up taking a break from school and decided that I wanted to pre med instead (personal story is too long to write on here). Please read!!
Anyways, I had terrible grades throughout the program because I crammed for every single exam. These are some info about me.
Started new major in Fall 2017
  1. cGPA: 2.947 sGPA: 2.71 (up until pharmacy school) --> cGPA: 3.067 sGPA: 2.89 (got all A's my first semester after transferring - class taken: 3 psych classes (100, 200, 300 level), Genetics, Physics 2, Physics 2 lab)
2. Major: Biology
  • I will probably be done after Fall 2019 (two more semesters)
3. Extracurriculars
  • Research:
    • Currently a student researcher in a nonschool affiliated research lab (One publication)
    • Had a short volunteer research in Pharmaceutics lab over the summer after freshman year (1 month)
  • Doctor shadowing:
    • Shadowed an Internal medicine fellow, anesthesiologist (D.O.) and a Pulmonologist (30+ hours)
  • Volunteer:
    • Summer medical volunteer in South Korea (2 months)
    • School fundraisers
    • Numerous church volunteering
    • Lead a music band to perform at a senior home
  • School experiences:
    • Resident Assistant (2.5 years)
    • Class President of 220 students
    • Two e-board positions in Pharmacy organizations
    • Currently starting a nationally recognized pre-med organization at my school - this might not be important because I'm graduating earlier than I expected
This is pretty much everything I can remember.
Please give me any general advice y'all have for me on how I should plan my timeline. And more specifically what post-bacc/SMP programs I should aim for!
