I'm hoping to get members thoughts...

Much to my disappointment I just found out that I failed my written ABA boards (not sure how I blew it since I passed as a CA-2). I still have 9 months of a peds anesthesia fellowship to go but then have a great job in NYC lined up. The contract I signed with the group says I have to be boarded within 2 years of my start date so I will do everything I can to pass next July.

Do I tell the group president I failed now just so its out in the open or keep it to myself so they don't think I'm a loser before I even start? My concern is that if I tell them now they might retract the offer. If I don't tell them, I'll feel like I'm deceiving them and getting off on the wrong foot (since they'll figure it out eventually).

What would you do?

Everyone knows the agreement. You have over 2 years to get it done. Don't bring it up until you are handing them a photocopy of your letter.
Now concentrate on getting it done. Good luck.
