Hey guys, I'm an early 3rd year DO student, and taking the USMLE tomorrow. I took the COMLEX last week, and feel like i did well on it, most likely above the median. Unfortunately, I don't know my score, but I scored right at the median on the one practice COMLEX i took, which typically underestimates your score.
Anyways, now I am doubting myself on why I am even taking the USMLE. I have spent tons of time studying for the boards including 4 passed through FA, 2 audio passes of Goljan, UWorld q bank with 57% avg, RR biochem, RR path, and BRS phys. I took the free 150 yesterday and got 71%, which estimates 210-216, but I also took UWorld SA#1 and only got a 193 a few days ago.
I will most likely be applying to an allopathic program in-state for either IM or FM, and they are happy to take my COMLEX scores. In fact, i spoke to the Chief Resident there a few months ago (she is a DO), and she said that she got in only taking the COMLEX.
I would be happy to take the USMLE and score above a 200...even though thats not a great score, the curriculum we have at my school just simply doesnt emphasize some of the subjects i struggle with on the USMLE (genetics, molecular bio, biochem). What i DONT want to to, is take it and fail it. I feel like that if I fail it and apply to an allopathic residency, that they could weed me out based on the fact that I did poorly on the USMLE, even though I believe my COMLEX score will be above average.
SO, my question to you all is, what happens if tomorrow during the test, if I feel like I am doing real poorly and bound to fail, if I just hit end test and dont have it scored? Is there anything wrong with doing that as a fail safe measure? Will it show up on my applications that I took it but did not have it scored? Will that look really bad if so?
Thanks
