Hoping for some collective wisdom here....

I'm applying for PhD Clinical programs for 2014, and the waiting game is (like everyone) making me crazy. I want to contact my POIs briefly to let them know that my manuscript was just accepted for publication this week. It will be my only pub not in prep, so I'm thinking it might actually help my application but I'd be mostly emailing to be like "hey dont forget about me!"

Thoughts??? Thank you!!

A publication is a big accomplishment, especially if it's your first. Definitely worth an update, I think. Congrats!

I agree with the above. Keep the email short and to the point. Attach an updated CV and hope for the best.

Definitely take updated CVs with you on interviews. If this were my situation, I would contact Program's administrator and ask how the training director (who is SWAMPED right about now) would like to receive this updated info, either by direct email attachment or emailed to the administrator so he/she can insert into your application packet, and therefore, not bothering the training director to risk being higher maintenance.

Congratulations! It's fun to see your name in print! 🙂

Good suggestion--admin assistants are invaluable from the application process through your dissertation defense.
