I'm a URM (black). I went to a private college and received a 2.5 GPA. I graduated with bio degree and a minor in ethics. I didn't do well no excuses. I went to post post for 2 years and attained a 3.5 GPA taking basically upper level bios. I attained a 30 on the Mcat. I'm applying to low tier md and low tier do schools. I have a lot of ECs and 4 strong letters of recommendation. What should I do? Do I have anychance?

I think you should be OK. Don't forget to include the HBCs on your list, and your state school (if any).

Thank you but I failed to mention. That my post bac was an "undergrad post bac". So although I said a Gpa of 3.5 that was solely my post bac GPA. Now do medical school see it separately or will it combine with my undergrad GPA? (Which will cause an overall GPA of about 2.8-2.9?

Thank you but if that 3.5 GPA is not a gGPA, it was just 2 years of post bac so it was still technically part my ugpa

What is your cGPA (everything you've done) and your gGPA?
The post bac i did was GPA booster so my cGPA will be around 2.8-2.9. I don't have a gGPA. I made the mistake and not going to graduate school because at the time I didn't have the funds. But I was told that med school sees that if you do in any type of post bac then they will look past your undergraduate GPA.

Anything you do after your UG degree will be your gGPA. Excellent performance in a post-bac program (whether it's DIY or a formal program, or a SMP) is an indicator that you can do well inmedical school.

So, with your post-bac coursework, your GPA was ~3.5? The key thing to your success will be to get human eyeballs on you app, so that you dont' get autorejected by your <3.0 cGPA. Being that you're in the URM category, that may save your app.

I strongly recommend tat you contact some Admissions deans to see if you're competitive. Keep in mind that with DO programs AACOMAS' grade replacement policy takes only the higher grade....does wonders for the GPA.

Apply DO at places with lower screens. The average African student has around 3.0, so you'll be fine.
