Hey everyone,

Anyone have any advice for me? Going into my last semester of Undergrad, this is what I got so far:

Major: Kinesiology
Cum GPA: 3.410 (I have 2 C's I plan on retaking)
University GPA: 3.720 (Still waiting on 16 units worth of grades for this semester)
President/Founder of Pre-PT Club at my University
Volunteer at inpatient Hospital: 72 Hours so far, going to continue through next seemster maybe increase hours.
Rehab aIde at SNF for a summer, about 140 hours give or take.
Ortho Clinic Summer about the same 140ish.
Involved in 2 Research Projects at my University in Biomechanical anaylsis of a movement and Anatomical Analysis of a Movement
Working with children/adults with autism now.
Medical Aide at several marathons. (Also organized my group to be aides at them)

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Any advice? My GPA is hurting a little but I made a huge turn around after transferring to a University.

Thanks for reading!

Your stats are all pretty solid. You may think a 3.4 is low but it will get you past the GPA cut-off for most schools. The best advice I can give you is to cast a wide net and apply VERY EARLY. The more schools you apply to the better. Yeah your stats are good but there are so many people applying for so few spots that the wider the net the better (yeah I know the cost sucks!). You don't necessarily need to do early decision, but the earlier you apply the better. With your stats and extra-curriculars you'll for sure get some interviews if not right out acceptances (depending on where you apply). Just make sure you do well on the GRE (if you haven't taken it, I don't see a score listed) and get some good letters of recommendation!

I would do your research thoroughly and find 7 or 8 schools at which you feel your application is competitive. Look into what each school actually cares about the most. Find out what the average stats of admitted applicants are. Call the admissions offices and ask what they prioritize and how their selection process works. Search the pre-PT forum here to find all the information you can about each school.

Targeted applications will save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars and will yield you acceptance to a school you actually want to go to. Maybe apply to 10 if you are really feeling anxious. People who just blow their application out to 15 or 20+ schools almost always get multiple acceptances if they have reasonable stats and end up wasting tons of time and money applying for and traveling to interview at schools they don't really know anything about or even want to go to. This is not MD applications, almost everyone gets at least one acceptance if their stats don't totally suck.

The best thing you can do for yourself at this point is to kill the GRE and observe a couple more (different) settings. It would also be helpful to know what your pre-req GPA is. If your cumulative GPA ends up >3.5 with the retakes you are planning, and any other future classes you take, then you should be totally fine.
