Hello Everyone!

I was originally planning on taking the new MCAT 2015 in June and have already begun studying for it. However, I have realized that I really do not think I will be prepared to my full potential if I still go ahead and take it in June because I'm currently a full-time undergrad student (in my third year) and the course load from school is making it difficult to allocate enough time to prepping for the MCAT.

I think I will feel better prepared if I take the MCAT in August. However, I'm very confused because this means that I will be rather late to apply this cycle. I'm not sure if I should just take the exam in June, hope for the best and apply. Or if I should take the exam fully prepared and apply late/not apply at all this cycle.

I would appreciate it if anyone could give me advice from their personal experience !

Not sure if this matters, but I have a 3.8 gpa and pretty decent ECs/LORs.

Under no circumstances should you take a career defining, high stakes exam unless you're fully ready for it. Even if it means skipping an app cycle.

Take it when you are ready, even if that means delaying your application until next year. Apply once, you don't want to be a re applicant.

Thanks for the responses! Does being a reapplicant hurt you severely? and would it still be worth applying this cycle if I do take it in August and do very well?

If you take it in August, you won't have a score until September. That's pretty late. Can you be accepted applying that late? Sure, it happens. But you make things harder for yourself.

being a reapplicant by itself does not hurt you at all as long as you have made significant improvements to your application compared to your previous cycle
