I mentioned something personal on my committee letter application that I later decided I didn't want mentioned on my committee letter. I emailed my school about this a while back but they were probably busy and never responded. They recently uploaded my committee letter with said content I wanted removed. I already designed that letter to schools. If they were to reupload the letter, are schools just going to read the most updated version? I haven't submitted any secondaries, so my application isn't considered complete yet.

Is the general protocol not to read letters until an application is complete?

Edit: They reuploaded before my application was verified. Does that fix it or can schools still access the old letter? I haven't selected every school yet, so I can just create a new letter entry for those schools.

Did you not waive the right to see the letter? How do you know what it in it?

What is the nature of the personal information? mental health issue? physical health issue? related to sex/gender? marital status? something else?

I'd be very surprised if a new letter can be uploaded in place of one that has already been provided.

My personal preference is not to look at an application until the secondary is in given that many applicants won't submit a secondary and reviewing them before the secondary arrives is just a waste of my time.

I did, but that doesn't mean you can't ask them if something was mentioned in your letter or not and request they remove it.

Mental health.

They can reupload the letter.

They can. They don't need to be vetted like transcript verification (by AMCAS, as far as I know).
That was the wrong question. I meant to ask if the letter is reuploaded before verification, will the old version be shared with the new version?

I would ask the AMCAS help team to confirm if the new letters substitute or are appended.
