I had to have my app in by March 1st for the fall term for this year! I would go ahead and get those letters now, so you are that much closer to having your applications complete and you won't have to scramble to get them later when your teachers might not be available!

Since it's for fall 2007, you will be able to open an account on PharmCAS on June 1st. At that time, you will submit your reccommenders's contact info and PharmCAS will contact them. Their LOR's will be submitted to your PharmCAS profile. So you can possibly alert your professors now and let them know that they'll get a request for their LOR's sometime during the summer from PharmCAS. The sooner you're able to collect those letters on PharmCAS, the earlier you can submit your application. That would definitely be a plus for those school's with rolling admissions. Good luck! 🙂

So Pharmcas gives the professors directions on how to submit the LOR and then Pharmcas will let us know when it is turned in, so that we can submit our application?

Sorry if this seems like such a silly question, but i just want to make sure.

Thank you. =)

No, it's not a silly question, and I think this part of the PharmCAS app is confusing. It is correct that you will input contact info on your professors or whoever is writing the LOR for you - then PharmCAS will contact them directly and tell them how to submit. You will, however, be able to do all of your application and finish it even if the LORs are not finished. I did not realize this, so I thought when PharmCAS sent my completed file off to the schools I was done. This was right around Christmas, so offices were closed and I had almost a month delay in review of my file from one of my schools because the missing LOR was mailed to them separately from the rest of my application and they lost it. Ultimately I had to have PharmCAS resend it - fortunately this did not make a difference in the end with this school.

be sure to let your writers know that you are wanting to complete your app early. one of my professors waited until 2/15 to submit. luckily i had already gotten 2 strong LORS from others early on and submitted those. i started contacting everyone in october and did not complete my app until 1 mo prior to deadline. the 1 mo early still help since my school had a rolling admission and i got in one of the earlier interview groups. i was accepted and I know strong LORs help. the school didn't require a letter in addition to their form but i asked for one anyway. it helped to show the adcom that my profs and pharm really knew me.

and don't forget they are busy too so give them alot of time but give them a deadline like 3-4 weeks turnaround. my pharm was great and gave me a really good LOR but due to the holidays it took almost 2 months to get from her. :luck:
