Hi,
I was just wondering to those of you who have been accepted to vet school... Do you have any advice or helpful hints or anything to help with writing the personal statements? Like why to become a vet or what you think you can contribute to vet medicine... etc.
Is it good to add in personal stories or what? I'm jut trying to figure out what would be best to write kick *** essays!!
Thanks!!😎

Several of the supplemental application pages (I think Michigan's in particular), have some "excellent examples of a personal statement" which helped me a lot. It's always best to start out with something that is eyecatching: a personal story, a meaningful quote, an outlandish statistic (has to be true though!). Also, stick to one main point, don't blabber on like an idiot (this is sort of a problem for me...I had to get SO MANY people to help me edit my statement).

Grammar and spelling are always helpful too. 😉

Oh, and start early, edit multiple times, and have several different people read and give suggestions.

I started mind early, but ended up rewriting three times because I didn't like it, so don't be scared to scrap the old one and start fresh. Sometimes thats easier than revising. I used a personal story in mine so it would stick out (I talked about my cat). I also mentioned my other animals names, and in my Ohio interview I mentioned my horse (not by her name), and one of the interviewers said her name off the top of his head). Also if it bored you (as mine did before I added the story) write it again 🙂
