Test is in a little over a week from today. Here is where I am at:

UWSA 1: 252
UW percentage:64%
Free NBME: 82%

I learn best by doing questions; staring at FA for hours and hours does not seem to work very well for me. I don't mind doing 200Qs a day. For my one week left, I'm wondering whether I should A) purchase Kaplan Qbank or B) go through wrong answers on UW.

After I finished UW last week, going through old questions has been a little too easy...I am getting like 85-100% right because I remember the questions or the answers or something.

Also, can anyone comment on how long the free sample Kaplan Qbank questions are available on the website? If it really would provide me with unlimited access to the Qs for a month, it seems a little too good to be true 🙂

You should really do an online NBME ... preferably NBME 7. UWSA are way over scored. You need to see what your actual score would be and NBME is known to be a great predictor. UWSA give very high scores but in the real exam it would be like a lot lower. So you should do an NBME in case you need to postpone.

Otherwise I don't know, in a week left you could do Kaplan Q Bank or just stick to understanding/memorizing FA in the last week is what is recommended.

Kaplan Q bank is terrible. Don't waste your money.

Is it terrible in the sense that it is too hard, too easy, or not representative of the real deal? I keep hearing mixed things about all the Qbanks...Any thoughts about USMLERx? Thanks.

So the 252 is really not too indicative I take it?

No UWSA ive heard from A LOT of people that it is not a predictor of your actual score. Where as NBME 7 is like super accurate!..

Yeah I also have heard that Kaplan Q bank sux. But at the same time I dunno some people say its good to do just for practicing on your timing skills.

Terrible in that it is not representative of the real questions. I own both Qbank and Uworld and once I tried Uworld I haven't gone back to Qbank much. When I have, I've been frustrated because the questions are often stupid, too detail-oriented, or have a poor explanation. Would it help you prepare for the exam?.....yeah, but it's just much lower yield in my opinion. I would really recommend just doing Uworld twice rather than Qbank once and Uworld once.

I had some shady version of NBME 7 which gave me the questions for two of the blocks for free. I got like -15 on one block and -11 on the next block. Too bad I have no clue what that actually correlates to in terms of score...

I'm soooo nervous about next week. Really aiming for 240+ and hoping that it is somewhere within my grasp.

Qbank is a bit odd, as I am realizing from the sample questions I did today. Not doing too hot right now on them either-getting like 61% on 2 tests then 78% on one. Who knows? Sigh...maybe I should just resolve to bite the bullet and spend my time reading through FA again. Qs are just so much more fun haha.

I think qbank is a decent thing to use before you use UW just to get details down. As some have said around here, I think qbank and UW are somewhat synergistic - qbank has way better coverage of some (frankly important) material (path, anatomy, etc) than UW. Are some of the questions stupid and overly detail-oriented? Possibly, but there's a lot of good stuff there too.

Maybe what you want to do w/ qbank is select the "highest yield only" option, go through as many of those qs as possible, and then also go through any qs you flagged in UW because you didn't understand them on the first pass.
