yeaaa mines on that day too its my first one as well. im kinda worried about their case studies..

Hey there! I'm a D1 at UofM, and the interview was pretty fun. 8 minute talks with 10 different people about a situation, most of which are ethically-based. The people who run it are admissions committee members, students, professors, and others. Kinda like speed dating...just with really important people. 🙂

Good luck! It's gonna be kinda fun to see you guys walkin around in your suits knowing that was us only a year ago.

Getting nervous for this one! I hope they give good background information on each ethical case presented and dont leave us hanging

yeeaaa for sure.. i am still confused to ****s about insurance and health care issues.

well yea i hear that they dont put u in a disadvantage by throwing you some unknowns and expect you to give your two cents on em. Good luck to you ticles

well, I just came back from the Michigan Interview.

for those of you who are stressed/freaked out about your future interview, don't be. It was a relatively fun experience. Those MMI's are pretty interesting, and time and time again, the person doing the interview kept telling us "just give us you opinion, this is no right/wrong answer here"....

All they care about is for you to construct an argument, and stick to it, they will NOT challenge your believes, they simply ask you easy questions as you start talking.... very thought provocative and very fun IMO.... I was actually sad when my 10th interview ended, cause I wanted more lol

Anyways, I can't speak on regards to what type of scenarios they had, cause that would be unethical plus.... I think it would screw you guys up, you can NOT rehearse for these. They give you ALL the background information about the scenario, like for example, if its a question about mid-level providers, they will first explain what mid-level providers are, who is for them, and who is against them and why... then they will ask you what your opinion is. Its really really fun

I didn't like it too much, personally. It's 10 interviewers with 10 stations. Gotta think on your feet.

Now, it's a great school, with a great program, in a great city, but any OOS people concerned with the cost?? Apparently, it's going to cost about $100k each year for ALL four years because you cannot establish state residency if you are a student. This is unlike many other states which allow you to establish state residency after the first year... the cost of Michigan is going to be astronomical!

I'm almost positive that there are only 2 dental schools that allow you to establish instate tuition after year 1. They are OSU and UNLV. My research has only found these 2 schools, but there is many rumors. Unless you know of others for sure???????

Oh, I shouldn't assume anything then. I thought 1-year was the norm and Michigan was abnormal. UNLV's d-school allows state residency after 1 year for sure. I think California schools also do the same, but my experience was with a colleague in a PhD program at a UC. Found this after doing a quick google search for California residency:

[SIZE=-1]The act necessary to establish a residence for tuition purposes is physical presence in California. A student (or parent through whom a student seeks to satisfy the University’s financial independence requirement) must be able to verify that he/she established a physical presence in California more than one year (366 days) immediately prior to the residence determination date of the term for which classification as a resident is requested and that he/she was physically present during that year. Residence may not be established in absentia. Continuous physical presence is not mandatory, but a student who leaves California after establishing presence has the burden of proving that he/she intended to remain a California resident and that his/her principal place of residence has been in California. University at Buffalo (Buffalo State) allows you to declare residency after your first year

you mean New York State 🙂

and yes, new york (state) allows you to change residency after 1 year.... however, they have been changing the rules as to how to do it. No one exactly knows for how long this is going to stay

Haha, yes, I meant to say NY state. When I went there, it was nothing like the big apple that I had imagined and I forgot that it was part of NY.
