I just took my DAT today. I did pretty good on all other sections except for RC (I got a 16). I know I need to retake the test and I have a year to improve my reading comprehension skill before I apply for dental school. Anyone has any advices for me?
My background: English is my second language. I'm a person who learns faster by visualizing, not from reading the textbook.

what I think works for me is to read the passage very quickly and make a list 1-15... or however many paragraphs i see. I write keywords for each paragraph on my list. that takes me a few minutes, but I feel it helps me organize my thoughts and I can go straight to the paragraph with the answer when I read the question. this only works for search and destroy. It doesn't really work for tone questions though. Good luck!

Thanks your help. what happened today was that I read the first 5-6 paragraphs to get some general ideas of the passages but my passages were very difficult to understand. I couldn't find any answers using search and destroy..maybe because i was too nervous

For reading comp I read the first word of each paragraph to get a feel for the spatial organization of the passage. Then I read the ques and read the sentence that contained the term and the sentence before and after it. In addition, I paid attention to the words in paratheseses. That was basically it. I got a 25 in rc. Good luck!
