I was instructed by a number of dental schools that I should take some upper level science courses this fall in order to make my bcp gpa more competitive (~2.7 right now).

So, my plan is to take a some courses at a credible 4 year university that is about 30 minutes away from where I live. However, every class that I was told to take is available as a distance education course. They are:

Advanced Human Metabolism (500 level course)
Biological Statistics (500 level course)
Microbiology (300 level course)
Genetics ( 300 level course)

This is a total of 12 hours. Now, these exact same classes are offered in the traditional classroom as well and will appear on my transcript as the exact same. Basically, is taking these all online a smart option? Thanks.

I'm also considering switching Microbiology for Animal Science .Thoughts?

Best classes to take for postbac and to be prepared for dental school is.

1. Anatomy(either gross or with physiology)
2. physiology
3. histology
4. biochemistry
5. microbiology

Your class schedule other than boosting your gpa, it wont help much in dental school.

Don't switch Micro for Animal Science, Micro is much more important and relevant for dental school!

taking micro w/ the lab is pretty important. it's a pre-req for some schools.

some schools don't take online credits, so i would take it in the classroom or check the schools you plan to apply to, if you know.

My point though is that this is a big 4 year university (not a small comm. college) and my transcript wont even mention that these are online courses.
