advise needed. Please help

I'm starting to get very concerned about this interview process and I would greatly appreciate some advice.

I applied to a great number of programs on September 1, 2007. I've received a total of two interviews but I have not heard anything from any programs since the second week of September. I'm starting to get scared because most of the programs that I've applied to have sent interview invites but I haven't received any. Is it safe to assume that I've been rejected and they will send out my rejection email whenever they get to it?

Being a FMG, I realize that PM&R is becoming quite competitive and I really don't have a back up. I absolutely love rehab medicine. I can't see myself doing anything other than Rehab for the rest of my life. I've done a number of electives in NYC and my passion only grows with each elective.

Two questions that I have are:

1. Should I be concerned for only getting two interview so far? One of my fellow student from Mt. Sinai who is doing research with me on post stroke patients has gotten 12.

2. How many interviews should we get to statistically ensure us to get a residency spot? I have a family to support and I'm very fearful of not matching.

looks like the "magic" number is 4 programs ranked

call the programs. see what their schedule is. see if they are still sending out interviews (my guess is that they are). if you find that you havent got as many interviews to feel comfortable, then send out more apps.... it cant hurt

Hey m in a similar situation too.....just 1 iv so far.........m guessing its due to my need for a visa that I hvnt got invites but there may be other factors too.......do u need a visa too?......which programs did u get ivs from?
m not quite sure bout callin up programs at the moment but I think we'll hv to resort to it sooner or later.......Good luck buddy!!!

I didn't get an interview from one of the programs that I really wanted to go to. I wrote them an email informing them of my desire to attend their residency and 6 months later I matched there.
