Hello,

Can someone tell me how hard it will be getting interviews in the following field of choice with the following background:

FP/Im/Pysch/OBS

FMG- US citizen
Step 1 -2 attempts, 75 score
Step 2 cs - 1 attempt cleared
Step 2 Ck - 2 attempt...awaiting score

Have good LORs, and did some externing and volunteer reaserch at VA. Graduation is 2006. Will i make it despite low score and multiple attempts. Please give me a feedback and what to do to improve my candidacy in 2006 match. Lastly, my husband is completing his residency..can he help me and in what ways...please someone enlighten me.

Thanking you

your first step should be narrowing down what you think you want to go into.

FP....or Psych... please inform me..., what to do next and how to increase my chances for being matched.

thanks

If you are graduating in 2006, are you planning on registering for the 2006 NRMP? If so, you had better decide NOW what you plan on doing because application time is near.

Neither FP nor Psych are considered difficult matches, but there are some programs which will be more difficult than others, even in more competitive fields.

No one will be able to tell you whether or not you will match; there are too many variables.

If your husband is at a program which has a residency in your chosen field, he might be able to pave the way for you, ie, get inside information, but in general, especially if he is finishing the program this year, he will not be of significant assistance.

See the following links for further assistance in the US residency match: http://www.nrmp.org

are you just trying to match anywhere, or is there a specific location you have in mind. ALthough your scores are low, if you apply to FP you should definitely match somewhere. My best advice (no matter what specialty you apply for) is to apply to many many many programs. I realize that it will cost a lot of money, however its much better to turn down interviews than beg for them later. Even if you decide to apply to 50 or even 100 programs, i would say the money is a worth while investment!

Hi

Thanks...., for replying. Yeah i am planning for the 2006 match. Which books to read for the match beside browsing the given website. How much roughly it would cost me if i applied to say some 200 programs. I want to hit the target for interviews and finding a residency spot. I am ready to go anywhere and work hard show my dedication to the field that i love.

Please inform me ....what else should i do to impress the programs that i am truly best candidate.
