Hey SDNers.. i wanted to know if anyone had the experience of going to an early interview then being advised by admissions to put your application on hold to re-take DATs? I thought if you received an interview then your stats were competitive. feedback please...

can be provided by ADCOM memebers only.

I've heard a couple of stories as urs.

Maybe, you did really poor interview? Left a strong negative impression?

Otherwise, it's possible while u are interviewing, they find more competitive candidates whom ADCOM members are making comparision with you.

Another explanation can be..

that's because they like all other components of your application packet from AADSAS except for that specific scores. As u are applying to that school, u are responsibile for meeting their criteria. Hence they will automatically think u will take extra time & effort to meet their criteria.
If u make it, u will become a highly competitive candidate at that school.
Otherwise, they will likely to regard u as an applicant who is no longer interested in their program. Plus, if you didn't meet that scores, your application will become weaker. But, u may be selected by luck at any time, after applicant flow after December, or just now either by luck or your competitiveness!

That's my opinion~

that's a first.... but I agree with visbimmer

something either turned them off during the interview or you have everything they are looking for except the scores. they may have liked you and even want you at their school, but they just need you to improve your scores before the adcom and can accept you

Maybe the interview reinforced their doubts or first impression.

If you had to remind them that you already interviewed it soudns iffy... i would agree to the retake at a later date and see what happens.. takeit if u dont get other offers/

I was sort of told the same thing. When my interview was over they said I might think about retaking the DAT. They didn't say to def take it. It has been about a year and a half since I took it and I would have to study for like 3 months straight so I didn't retake it. I am hoping that everything else outweighs that factor. We will see.

It has the making of a strong hint.

Well I guess I will have to wait and see if I got lucky!! I'm pretty sure the rest of my application is really solid.
