Ok everyone heres a question I would like a little input on:
I attend a small, public undergraduate school. There is a pre-med advisor at this school, but they do not have a reputation for turning out a lot of medical students.
I also happen to be friends with a local D.O.(Emergency Med), who has been very helpful, yet realistic, about my various questions and concerns. She summed it up well regarding pre-med advisors at my college: she has been there, they haven't.
Should I let my pre-med advisor assume more of backseat, or should I rely less on the practicing DO? Any advice would be great! Thanks

Sounds like a plan to me. I'm utilizing every resource I can right now because I'm rather worried about chemistry (not my strongest subject) and how it will affect my chances for admission.

I am in the same boat, because I have to attend my community college for the first two or three years of my undergraduate years. There is no specific "pre-med" advisor but the head of the science division there seems to give me great advice, as he received his PhD in orgo chem in Med school but decided to opt out of the MD (weird I know).

I definitely agree with the above posters, gather all the info you can, sipher through the crap and use SDN to get real time answers from experiencing Med Students.
