I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, I'm having trouble finding the answer though.
I have just become an Advanced EMT in New Hampshire. I can legally start IVs and draw blood. However, finding jobs in this field is rather difficult where I live, but phlebotomy jobs are in excess.
My question is: Is phlebotomy certification required, or are my current credentials and licensures enough? I am pre-med and am looking for a paid position in the healthcare field with direct patient care. I currently volunteer in a clinic as well as on an ambulance, but I NEED a paid job as well right now. I'm also aware that a phlebotomy certification is not REQUIRED in NH, but it is strongly preferred.
If an AEMT license does not "substitute" for a phlebotomy certification, is there a way to opt out of taking a class and going right to taking an exam and practical since I have the AEMT license? I know this is the case for certain circumstances with LNA and CNA licenses.
Any help would be appreciated!
