Currently, I have a 4.0gpa. I decided to take an online genetics class, because I was interested in learning more about some specific topics within scope of the class.

I took it through a CC and thought I wouldn't worry about the grade bc I wouldn't report it to my primary institution, nor would I post it on my AAMC app (I should have opted for p/f looking back or even audit). Recently, I found out that you have to report all post HS classes/grades to AAMC and because of so I am considering withdrawing from the course.

Just to be sure, a withdraw would be a better option than tainting my gpa at this point, right? The only other withdraw on my transcript was of the class "History of Hip Hop" which I left because of a terribly racist teacher, that made me incredibly uncomfortable.

Thanks to any and all for your opinions.

yea just withdraw, it's not a big deal. stuff happens

Awesome, that's what my thought process was as well. Thanks Torshi

But to be clear you will still have to report that W to AMCAS

Two Ws and a 4.0 screams "quitting to protect the gpa". Some adcom members don't like quitters. Just sayin'.

Are two withdraws (with only one being a real class) a lot in premed world? Most of my friends have much more than two...

Nah, I don't think so. If asked about the second W, you could always just talk about how you realized that some material is just more relevant and meaningful in a "hands-on" context... and then tie it into medicine, being like, even with a 4.0 GPA, you feel that medicine encompasses so much more and you're looking forward to actually working with patients/seeing research results first-hand, etc etc.

Obvious BS is obvious. Adcoms aren't stupid.

How bad is the class going? Will having a 3.99 instead of a 4.00 be so terrible?
